Q & A with Sun Devil Club Board Executive Committee Secretary, Chris Michaels,

Why did you decide to become a member of the Sun Devil Club Board? I have been a lifelong ASU fan. I wanted to be a part of an organization that focuses on the advancement of ASU athletics and athletes on and off the field.

What is your favorite part about your involvement with the Sun Devil Club? I really enjoy being associated with individuals that have the same goal in helping to contribute to the overall success of ASU athletics.

What’s your favorite part of attending a game as a “fan”? One of my favorite things in this world is attending ASU sporting events. I enjoy it all: the energy of the crowd, the music, the band, Sparky, the athletes and their individual stories, and of course the victories. I took this for granted and after a year of COVID-19 and quarantining, I can't wait to get back in person.

What is your favorite ASU memory? I have so many but probably the most fun I have ever had at an ASU football game was the victory over Nebraska in 1996. No one gave us a shot and then to shut them out 19-0 was crazy. Sitting in the stadium, we just kept pinching ourselves. The tearing down of the goal posts and watching everyone march it down Mill Avenue is something I will never forget.

What are some of your hobbies or what do you enjoy doing in your free time? I really enjoy cooking, entertaining, watchings sports, lifting weights, hiking, golfing (just started), and traveling.

Please share any additional information about your involvement with ASU. My husband, Chuck, and I run a scholarship program at ASU. We have done this the past 18 years and currently support 30 students with financial assistance and mentoring. We focus on students who are first in their family to attend college and we absolutely love it.
