Meet Our Board: Scott Donaldson
Get to know the Sun Devil Club Board!
Q & A with Sun Devil Club Board Executive Committee President, Scott Donaldson,
Why did you decide to become a member of the Sun Devil Club Board? I have been a Sun Devil fan for as long as I can remember, and have memories cheering the Devils on with my father and brother as a young boy. After my ASU graduation I was asked to help out with the Sun Angel Advisory Council and to help with the annual football dinner, and then was eventually invited to join the Sun Devil Club Board of Directors.
What is your favorite part about your involvement with the Sun Devil Club? Working with our coaches and ASU Athletics administrators to support an environment that is conducive to the success of our student athletes on and off the field. Mary and I have especially enjoyed our affiliation with and support of the Wings of Gold, wherein we are able to support all of our women student athletes and their teams.
What’s your favorite part of attending a game as a “fan”? Cheering on and enjoying our various teams with our fellow Sun Devils. That key moment when a crucial touchdown pass is caught, or a winning buzzer beater 3 pointer swishes through the basket, or the ball soars over the outfield fence....the collective joy and resulting loud cheering never gets old.
What is your favorite ASU memory? No doubt about it....Sparky planting the State of Arizona flag in the middle of the Rose Bowl immediately after beating Michigan on January 1, 1987. Yes, there were tears involved.
What are some of your hobbies or what do you enjoy doing in your free time? Golf, travel and anything ASU
Please share any additional information about your involvment with ASU Undergraduate ('80) and Graduate ('81) degrees from the School of Accountancy in the W.P. Carey School of Business. Retired in June of 2018 after a 38 year career with Ernst & Young (EY). Inducted into the W.P. Carey School of Business Alumni Hall of Fame in 2017.
