Colorado Athletic Scholarship

During the 2019-20 school year, fifteen Sun Devil student-athletes, across eight different sports, made their way from Colorado to Tempe to pursue their degrees while participating at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics. The newly established Colorado Athletic Scholarship has been created to recognize the accomplishments of these student-athletes.

This fund will assist student-athletes who were born or attended high school in the state of Colorado in covering costs for:

  • Out-of-state tuition
  • Room and board
  • Books

Watch the video below to hear a special message from the 2020-2021 scholarship recipient from Sun Devil Gymanstics, Jordyn Jaslow.

The Colorado Athletic Scholarship fund was established by 07’ alums Rick Hurley and his wife Charlotte.  Charlotte and Rick met on campus while Charlotte was obtaining their degrees in Public Relations and Rick in Human Communication. Rick also played lacrosse for the Sun Devils during his time on campus.  Now a member of the business community in Colorado, as co-owner and managing partner of Heirloom Wealth Management.  The company and its employees encourage an environment of philanthropy, and are committed to providing financial guidance for individuals, families, and foundations.

Rick and Charlotte are also involved in several philanthropic organizations within the state and are very passionate about giving back. The establishment of this fund combines the Hurley family’s passion for sports and community with the opportunity to support higher education resources for an ASU student from the state of Colorado where they currently reside.

Through the Hurley family’s contributions, an avenue is created for alumni and others to connect back to Tempe by supporting an ASU student-athlete from their own backyard of Colorado.
