Don Bocchi served Arizona State University for nearly four decades. In that time, he garnered a reputation as one of the most approachable, friendly people in Sun Devil Athletics. He positively impacted so many student-athletes during his tenure as a Senior Associate Athletic Director, so upon retiring just this past month, long-time Sun Devil donor and supporter Martin Calfee set up the Don Bocchi Student-Athlete Excellence Fund in his honor.
The fund will directly support the Office of Student-Athlete Development (OSAD) which provides services, programming and guidance that help student-athletes achieve academic success, develop critical life skills and prepare for life beyond intercollegiate athletics.
Sun Devil Football and Sun Devil Athletics honored Don on the field at the 2021 Territorial Cup for his dedication and commitment to ASU and all its student-athletes over the years.
“Martin and Monnie Calfee have been wonderful contributors to Sun Devil Athletics for a long time and are among my closest personal friends,” Bocchi said of the fund. “I’m humbled by their gesture, in my mind the end game in intercollegiate athletics is and always has been academic success. I hope that many join Marin and I as we continue to grow this effort to aid all student-athletes.”
